Grounds for Care Home

Ross Solution Projects took part in a major refurbishment project at Thames Ditton in Surrey which has sensitively transformed a spacious and distinguished period property into a high quality residential care home.

The RSP remit covered the grounds and external areas surrounding the building, involving both hard and soft landscaping and making full use of our range of skills in providing landscape gardening and driveway services.

We worked with a wide range of materials such as resin, natural stone, brickwork and tarmac. Fencing was installed, decking built, ponds dug and lined as well as numerous other activities undertaken to ensure an attractive and safe environment for residents to enjoy.

The grounds and outdoor facilities of this delightful care home at Thames Ditton have been designed and created by RSP to ensure that residents enjoy a beautiful and peaceful environment.

Soft landscaping with extensive new lawn installation and imaginative planting schemes forms an important element in the Thames Ditton care home grounds. Laying new lawn installations requires a skilled appreciation of garden design, using attractive shapes and smooth curves to enhance the beauty and sense of space of provided by lawn areas.

Expertise is also required in plant selection and placement, both to emphasise the appeal of the lawns and hard landscaping and with thought given to long term maintenance of the grounds and gardens.

Materials and structures

A varied blend of materials, such as brick, stone and tarmac, is used in areas where residents walk and take their ease. In a care home setting, it is particularly important that surfaces are selected and laid that avoid risks of slipping and falling. Hand rails are also set at strategic intervals, but these safeguards are well designed so as not to detract from the character and distinction of the setting.

Repeated use of these materials in the parking area ensures a consistent and holistic approach to the creation of the building’s external areas.
